Baarlu Jagun (Birthing Caves) is an orginial artwork created by Australian mother-daughter art duo Miimi & Jiinda, founded by Lauren Jarrett and Melissa Greenwood. As proud Gumbaynggirr custodians, Lauren and Melissa love to share their interpretations of Country, which spring from their own personal cultural identities as Aboriginal women.
This painting is symbolic of the ancient birthing caves that Aboriginal women birthed in for time immemorial.
Birth is a deeply spiritual process where women need to be respected, honoured, and most importantly listened to.
