Antique Edwardian yellow gold cameo bar brooch. This beautiful brooch features a carved shell cameo depicting a lady with curls in her hair. The lady is slightly raised in an off white on a salmon coloured background.
On the back of the brooch there are a number of very small hallmarks, it indicates the piece is set in 9ct yellow gold hallmarked in Birmingham.
Cameo jewellery became very popular in the early 19th century cameos features Roman women. Victorian women on the Grand Tour brought home these pieces from places such as Italy and Greece.
